Sustainability
Since founding Lone Point Cellars in 1984, we have set out to leave the northeast Washington wine country in better condition than when we arrived. We’re constantly looking for ways to make our farming techniques more sustainable, such as deploying beneficial insects to control pests rather than pesticides, monitoring soil and leaf nutrient levels, and reducing water usage by monitoring soil moisture levels. The buildings on our property are also energy efficient and include:
36 solar panels to supplement energy consumption
Four charging stations for electric cars are provided free of charge
Propane water heaters for showers and kitchen
Low-wattage LED lighting
R40 roofing
Low E with solar-cooled coating glass for windows
Building positioned with southern exposure for efficiency in summer and winter
